confidentuality and foster parents...input?
February 8, 2012, 10:16 am
Assuming that another foster parent won't repeat something you said. Even if they just an off handed comment to the wrong person can get you in trouble. Also, assuming anonymity on this or any other forum. I know several people on this forum IRL.

Adopting at my young age and setting age limits to be matched
February 8, 2012, 10:08 am
Congrats! My husband is 31 and I am 27. Since we are also on the younger than most we have decided to do 0-7yrs mostly we decided this because our oldest niece is 8 and we didn't want to disrupt the flow of our family since we are close but we are also trying to keep in mind not having teens...

If you inquire on a child and then send in your home study is following up a good or bad idea? I submitted my home study to a sib group in state and their status recent.y went to hold while they review home studies. I've inquired on so many kids and have gotten nowhere I don't really expect to hear...
Anyone have to turn down a bio sib?
February 8, 2012, 9:26 am
I know this is a common dilemma for FP's and I'm glad to read the responses. I figured it was a matter of time before our FD's bio mom got pregnant again and it has happened. I don't know what will happen as the pregnancy progresses or if CPS will let her try to parent the new baby. I have had...
Adoption Tax Credit?

Did they do that with everyone??? (release the regular portion of the return?)
Teen foster
February 8, 2012, 9:04 am
We do! We have fostered 3 other teen girls all the same age as our own 14 yr old DD. The first one moved to relatives, the second one, we're adopting and the 3rd one was sent back home( ). We love our teens. If I had room, I'd take more, but we only have one bedroom for teens and one for our 4 yr...
Room counts
February 8, 2012, 8:54 am
We had the gigantic house before we had the foster kids (we have four bio sons as well), and have seven bedrooms - only two of which are in use. Four is the official maximum number of kids they will certify us for, but they've had no trouble writing waivers for us to take up to 6 at a time (mostly...
How much do u have to make,to become a foster parent?
February 8, 2012, 8:44 am
As long as you can show you make enough $$ to cover your expenses, it really doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you own a home or live in a apartment or how lavish your lifestyle is either.
17 month old - hitting and pulling hair - suggestions?
February 8, 2012, 8:12 am
Help, Little V is 17 months old. She is now hitting, pulling hair and scratching both at day care and at home. I've tried removing her and redirecting her and telling her "Gentle Touches." I've even placed her on a chair in the living room (with us) and said "We don't hit."...

2 weeks and counting...

Well.. on a good note.. if all they can do is complain about the wording... Sounds like they are nitpicking and grasping at straws. Which means they don't have a a chance in overturning the ruling - and they know it the waiting sucks; i know. hang in there. you are sooo close
Vent. Dad a no show for bonding eval
February 8, 2012, 7:55 am
Well..even if the bonding eval with dad were to go well, the cw can still bring up the fact that he didn't show up for two scheduled meetings. And that, along with his problem at visits, it's is a pretty good reflection on the kind of parent he will be to Curly. All of that will work in your favor...
"supervised CPS visitation", children murdered. Have you seen this?
February 8, 2012, 7:52 am
I thought Josh Powell got his own place. That's how he was able to petition to get the kids back. He had to move away from his father's house so his father wouldn't have access to the kids.
OT (sorta): VENT about the Hospital (LONG)
February 8, 2012, 6:46 am
I'm not sure if you can do this but I found it helpful to find a really good pediatrician and have all of the reports from specialists forwarded to him. As soon as any script was written, he was always the one who did the follow-up refills and such. That way we got medical follow-up and...
